What began as a small neighborhood initiative to breathe new life into Reseda’s historic business district has evolved into one of the San Fernando Valley’s most anticipated community celebrations. The Reseda Rising Art Walk returned to Sherman Way from 5-10 p.m. Oct. 4, spotlighting the local art scene and the area’s growing cultural heartbeat.
Beyond the colorful booths and live music drifting through the evening air, the event reflected a deeper ambition — to build lasting connections between artists and the residents of Reseda. This city-sponsored event is a reminder of how collective creativity can transform public spaces into shared experiences.
This year, several new features emphasized interactive art-making and youth participation. Community groups hosted do-it-yourself mural projects and craft areas for families, while nearby businesses extended their hours to showcase neighborhood-made goods.
This year’s event was organized through collaboration between LA City Councilmember Bob Blumenfield’s District 3 office, the city of L.A.’s Department of Cultural Affairs and community partners. Sponsorship from neighborhood businesses helped cover staging and equipment, while volunteer groups handled setup and outreach. Their combined efforts ensured that the Reseda Rising Art Walk remained accessible and welcoming to visitors of all ages.
For organizers and volunteers, the excitement lay in seeing Sherman Way reimagined once again as a destination for discovery and togetherness. With every painted canvas and lively performance, Reseda’s artistic pulse grows stronger, proof that local culture thrives when residents have a place to relax, create things and share their passions.
